Welcome to my Web Site.
It's over three years since my site first appeared on the 'Net and it has
undergone quite a few changes since then. Back then I had just made
my first CD and I was yet to pension off my trusty Sho Bud. A lot
has happened since then, and most of it is listed in these pages.
I've spent many hours surfing the 'Net, looking at
Pedal Steel sites and found that the most enjoyable ones are usually those
which feature technical info., photo's, good links and aren't too 'heavy'
(and don't attempt to be extra-funny!). Hopefully you'll find
mine just such a site.
I've completed my second CD and I'm managing to stay busy, steel-wise',
playing at gigs and festivals. In addition to my regular appearances
at the British Steel Guitar Convention, I've also put in another appearance at The Brisbane
Pedal Steel Convention, and the Irish Steel Guitar Association Festival
(For the 2002 & 2003 festivals I also appeared as one of the 'Traveling
Newburys'). I've also had the
opportunity of doing some more session work, which is always enjoyable:
This time playing steel
for an episode on TV's My Kind Of Music (UK.) I was also kindly
invited by the British Steelies Society to appear in 'An Evening With Dave
Kirk' at their meeting venue near Bristol. I've also been invited to
appear at the 2005 Brisbane
Pedal Steel Convention.
I've finally got 'round to making my Session 400 a dual speaker cabinet
set-up. Everyone (including Peavey) warned me that the unit wouldn't
be too happy being driven into only a two Ohm load. But their
User Manual had a 2 Ohm rating in its Spec. Section; so I went ahead and
gave it a try. It works perfectly. It's been worked hard at
gigs with my band (Bandana) and runs at its usual operating
temperature.
Another success was the John Le May conversion, which I
had my brother fit for me. The mod. does
everything it claims to do (and more!). So, with that and the
twin speakers (and a new steel), I'm more than happy with my current sound.
To avoid having to constantly update this front-page, I'll be putting
any 'new' stuff in the 'News' pages, so please check them out from time to time.
As you've probably realised, Pedal Steel Guitars are a bit of an obsession with me! I'd love to
hear from anyone who's got information on just about any aspect of Steel Guitars. Although Pedal Steels are my main interest, I also enjoy playing/owning
electric/accoustic guitars too.
